Conference and attacks on Cameron

By on . Comments (0)

Green Party Conference last week got lively interest from the broadcast media and online sites, but less in the daily papers. The day before Conference, the Society Guardian gave a full page to the leadership referendum, featuring Jenny Jones and Caroline Lucas debating different ways forward for the party.

The Liverpool press quickly followed up with Green Councillor John Conyne slamming the local Lib Dem policy of encouraging people to fly from the city to London to support the new service. They claim that it will help to make sure they have money to clear rubbish up.

Our challenge to the other parties caught TV and radio interest on Friday. Siân Berry’s speech on Friday was broadcast on BBC 1 News, as well as live on News 24 and BBC Parliament. You can still see it on the BBC’s website. Caroline Lucas MEP, meanwhile, was interviewed on Radio 4’s Today programme, about our Conference plans as well as where she stood on leadership.

The Guardian reported in the online edition on our challenge to other parties on the environment and also on the motion to legalise assisted dying.

Siân Berry blogged throughout the week, and her response to the the Tories’ Quality of life review managed to get under Zac Goldsmith’s skin. She rounded up the debate here.

Our youtube channel features highlights of Derek Wall’s speech as well as Siân’s.

All in all, we showed again that there is much people want to hear from us, and we can build support and momentum quickly if we have the courage and good sense.
